My 50th Post

admin | 28 June, 2006 12:40

This is an exciting moment. I've made 50 posts on this blog. and I'm still going. How do I do it? I think the pollution's got to my head or something.

Anyway, if anyone out there got nothing to do, head to The Lab this thursday any time between 4-10PM for MC - DJ sessions. If you scratch, rap or you support hip-hop and your local Shanghai artists, come on down. I'll be there. Peace.

Don't be evil? Yeah, right.

admin | 08 June, 2006 08:56

I'm a bit split here... The Western part of me says, "Don't do it! Don't feed into the 1.3 billion customers motto!", and then the expat living in China part of me says, "Well, this is better than nothing I guess..." What does your personality say about this?:

Black Eyed Peas in SHANGHAI????

admin | 07 June, 2006 22:34

Check it out...

Hip-hop quartet Black Eyed Peas to perform in Beijing, Shanghai

SHANGHAI, China (AP) - American hip-hop quartet Black Eyed Peas are bringing their Monkey Business tour to China next month, a rare visit to the country by a group at the height of its popularity.

The tour's China leg will kick off with a July 18 show at Beijing's Exhibition Center Theater, followed by a July 20 concert at the Shanghai Grand Stage, according to promoters China West Entertainment.

The multi-platnium group follow a growing number of Western acts finding audiences in China's two major cities, including rock legends The Rolling Stones, Robin Gibb of the Bee-Gees and the Godfather of Soul James Brown, who appears on the Peas latest release "Monkey Business.''

Unlike the Peas, however, those performers are decades past their most successful years.

I don't think Howard Stern would even go there...

How you can tell that there's a lot of very sexually repressed people in China... (This is Hong Kong... But still...)

Shortkut and Nanjing re-cap

admin | 06 June, 2006 10:16

Got to interview Shortkut for http://www.djvibe.com/. Good stuff. Party was awesome and Shortkut made a party that kept the real hip-hoppers sticking around Pegasus til 3:30 AM. It was niceness.

Went out Nanjing on Sunday to see the lady and hang. Didn't see too much since the lady was sick, so had to take care of her. Had to do some shopping.

While shopping in Nanjing, I realized something that Nanjing has that Shanghai will never match: patience. It's all in the environment. I think having a population of almost 10 million people, a claustrophobic skyscraper set-up, and off-the-wall traffic can drive anyone insane.

Nanjing isn't as convenient, nor international, nor cutting-edge as Shanghai, but Nanjing people are friendlier and unlike metropolitan cities, Nanjing doesn't require you to put up a wall and defend yourself everywhere you go.

But I miss getting Papa John's.

Wordy and Tangking

admin | 03 June, 2006 12:36

Oh! Peace to DJ Wordy and my band member MC Tangking. We ripped it on Thursday!

Shortkut and Da Long and Nanjing... Oh My!

admin | 03 June, 2006 12:30

AHHHHHHHHH!!! Great things are happening. Got to meet with Mr. Andrew Ballen, aka 大龙(Da Long), at Fabrique where my boy Kyle was playing. It was a pretty fun evening and it was good to see local Chinese get sprayed by bottes of champagne by the DJ and MC. Even Andrew was getting in on the action.

Big ups to my man Kyle Ching for bringin' it to the ones and two's last night at Fab. It was good times.

Now, onto today... One word... Shortkut.

5-6 is the master class at The Lab... I can't DJ but I will be there.

10-???, 80 RMB @ Pegasus is the party. Expect good ish.

Tomorrow I'm off to Nanjing to see the wifey, day off on Monday, and back to Edelman on Tuesday. A 4 day week sounds grrrrrrreat to me!
